On Tuesday, September 24th, 2024, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and United States Marshal Service, in coordination with the Phoenix Police Department, executed search and seizure warrants at the Royal Inn hotel, located at 2510 West Palo Verde Drive in Phoenix. The owner, operator and the corporate entity was charged with Travel Act violations, money laundering, human trafficking, and maintaining a drug premises.
Post eviction, DAWGS Vacant Property Security was contracted to quickly secure the hotel property with their steel door and window guards. Closing and securing the Royal Inn has brought the neighboring community peace of mind knowing they will no longer have their children walking to school past this “hub” of criminal activity.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make neighborhoods safer for everyone.
In a statement about the closure of the Royal Inn, Phoenix City Councilwoman Betty Guardado said, “The closure of the Royal Inn has been a critical piece missing from our strategy to restore safety in the neighborhood. The community has long called for action against a property owner who has allowed criminal activities to thrive on his premises. We are incredibly grateful for the support from the City of Phoenix Police Department, the U.S. Attorney’s office and the Federal Bureau of Investigations in this matter. Their commitment-alongside that of community leaders and organizations-has been instrumental in moving us toward safer living conditions for all our residents.”
