Securing Vacant Property FAQS
Why might a receiver be appointed to a vacant property?
There are several reasons a court may appoint a receiver to manage a vacant property, including:
- Foreclosure: When a property is foreclosed and not maintained, a receiver protects its value.
- Neglect by property owner: A receiver may step in to address safety hazards or maintenance issues caused by an owner’s inability or unwillingness to act.
- Community concerns: To combat blight or nuisance conditions that negatively impact surrounding neighborhoods, a receiver can take over the property’s care.
